Zaragoza is a hidden gem – it’s not on the standard Spanish tourist trail but is well worth a visit.
It’s Spain’s fifth-largest city and is situated halfway between Barcelona and Madrid. The surrounding countryside is full of haunting, empty landscapes.
The city has a wealth of beautiful architecture, especially the Basilica of Nuestra Senora Del Pilar which dominates the riverside and the 11th Century Aljaferia Palace.
It also has a museum dedicated to one of Spain’s greatest painters Francisco Goya, https://museogoya.ibercaja.es/ as well as some great tapas restaurants.
