Most of these were taken on or near Venice Beach. Venice used to have a slightly run down, boho vibe to it but proximity to the ocean and Santa Monica pushed up property prices and it’s become quite a gentrified place. When I was there in 2022 a lot of homeless people had migrated to the area, living in tents set up on public land by the sides of roads or in parking lots. When locals heard I was staying in Venice, the first thing they would say was, ‘Have you seen the homeless?’
The beach and the big concrete pier were good places to hang out and watch people fish, swim, surf & practice yoga. A short walk from the pier was a great local cafe called The Cows End.
