Elne is a small picturesque town at the foot of the Pyrenees on the Franco/Spanish border. It’s part of the French Catalan region with street signs both in French and Catalan. In the centre of town is a very atmospheric cemetery – these are from a recent visit. It was deserted when I visited apart from some cats sunning themselves. The family plots were scrupulously well-tended.
